Are you looking after someone?
1 in 10 people in Sheffield support a child or adult who couldn’t otherwise manage due to a disability, illness, frailty, mental health problem or addiction.
Nearly 11,000 people doing this unpaid role are registered with Sheffield Carers Centre so they can get the information, advice and support that they need.
We’re in touch with carers who visit a loved one a few times a week through to those doing full time support; some carers might look after more than one person, have child care responsibilities and be juggling paid employment.
Sheffield Carers Centre is for all adults looking after someone in this way. Everyone who registers with us receive a Welcome Pack including a free Carer Card that gives you discounts and offers on products, activities and services across the city, as well as a regular newsletter and a list of the support we offer.

Carers Needs Assessments are for carers of adults over 18, to assess how your caring role impacts on you. Every carer has the legal right to assess how caring affects them. Please note: this is not about assessing how you do your caring role.
Planning for an emergency means that the person you care for isn’t left without support, if anything happens to you.
Counselling is available for carers, if it’s appropriate following an assessment.
Support for older families of people with Learning Disabilities/Autism is provided through our contract with Sheffield Mencap & Gateway.
Newsletter is emailed or posted to all our carers, 3 times per year. It contains important news for carers, updates on useful services and information about local support groups. Our Carers e-Bulletin provides more frequent news and is emailed every month.
