NHS Weight Loss Injections – Tirzepatide (Mounjaro)

We cannot prescribe Mounjaro for weight loss.

Please do not book appointments with your GP specifically to request this medication at this time, as it cannot be provided yet.

It’s currently not available for GPs in Sheffield – it’s red listed, meaning it can only be prescribed in specialist weight services.

There is strict criteria to be eligible, patients must also engage in lifestyle changes. Initially, the treatment will be available only to people with a BMI over 40 who also have four weight-related health conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, heart disease, or type 2 diabetes.

In order to be referred for Mounjaro (Tier 3) you must first do Tier 2, which is called More Life.
